Perimenopause periods and spotting—what is normal?
Every woman experiences the menopause transition differently. Cycles can become shorter, longer, heavier, lighter, or less predictable.
How perimenopause affects your period
Perimenopause is the transition before menopause. Hormone levels fluctuate, and cycle patterns can change over time.
Spotting
Spotting means light bleeding outside a period. It can occur during perimenopause, but it should not automatically be assumed to be hormonal.
